San Diego’s Gear Leather & Fetish and The Candy Pushers announce that they will be begin sharing the retail space at 1295 University Ave #1B, starting in April 2025.
Each business will have a separate entrance, but once inside customers will be able to shop in both stores.
“We are excited to be relocating to the very heart of Hillcrest,” says Gear Stores owner, John McBain. He added “Together we’ll be creating a unique retail experience, something both ‘sweet and spicy,’ as our landlord Shannon would say.”
Gear’s current San Diego location at Third and Washington was always meant to be temporary. When Shannon “Sugar Mama” Dove from The Candy Pushers decided to consolidate earlier this year, Gear leapt at the opportunity to join her in the part of the space that she would no longer be using.
As in its current San Diego location, Gear expects to create a contemporary, masculine, loft-like interior that’s sexy and fun to shop in the new University Avenue setting. The store expects to close for one day in its current location and re-open the very next day in the new one.
“For 20 years, we’ve committed ourselves to bringing together the world’s finest fetish brands, pricing them exceptionally, and offering them in a truly beautiful shopping environment. We’re so excited to share that experience and join our new neighbor in our next chapter,” said McBain.
